I use a Nikon D80

Some of the D80's features:

  • A 10.2 Megapixel CCD sensor
  • It can shoot in RAW and JPEG
  • In camera Multiple exposure feature which can merge up to 3 consecutive images- I like this and have played around with it quite a bit
  • USB 2.0 Hi-speed interface
  • Pentaprism viewfinder
  • 2.5 inch, 230,000 pixel LCD monitor (same as in D40, D40x and D200)
  • Shutter speeds from 30 seconds to 1/4000
  • Nikon F Mount

I really enjoy using this camera and its worth every penny, its a Midrange - DX sensor camera there are ones below it that are cheaper such as the D60.

Lenses

Nikon 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 G AF-S DX IF-ED

This is my main lens, the Nikon 18-135mm lens has a 7.5x zoom and a focal length of 18-135mm, I use it most of the time for general photography and boxing. its a really quiet lens that uses the silent wave motor technology. Its both M and AF which is useful when the autofocus doesn't work.

Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO Macro Super DG Lens - Nikon Fit

This is my telephoto zoom lenses with tele-macro function and optimised for digital SLR cameras. It is a performance telephoto zoom lens is capable of shooting with a maximum magnification of 1:2 at the focal length of 300 mm I use for Sport, Nature and landscape photography. It also has a macro function which I use for macro (Close up) photography.

Nikon 50mm f1.8 D AF Lens

This is the lens I use for portrait photography, its the fastest lens I own.

Future Lenses

I am considering buying a dedicated macro lens as I have enjoyed the macro photography that I have done so far the lens I am looking at is a Sigma 150mm F2.8 EX DG Macro Lens which can shoot 1:1 size it is quite expensive though but I have seen the results it produces and they are fantastic.

I may look at getting a better telephoto lens as my current Sigma can't reach quite far enough when doing sports photography.

Other Equipment

Tripod

I have recenty purchased a Manfrotto Tripod which will help improve my photography as there won't be any camera shake etc. Its not the best tripod but I bought it to be light and small so it can go in a suitcase when I go on holiday.

Flash Gun

I have a Nikon SB600 Speedlight, I am looking forward to using this at boxing events as it will allow multiple shots and a higher shutter speed. I loved using it at the music events I covered recently it gives so much more control than the built in flash

Battery Grip

I have a Nikon MB-D80 Battery Grip which saves having to have a spare battery in my pocket, it also makes the camera handle better, especially for vertical shooting.

Filter Kit

I am looking to get a Neutral Density filter kit at some point in the not to distant future
